Our FitStar of the week is Brandon Trollip from London, England. Between traveling for his job and chasing after his three children, he competes in Tough Mudder and will even take on the London Marathon next year. FitStar provides the training he needs to complete the “toughest event on the planet” and get fit anywhere. Brandon is one tough FitStar!
Here are five facts you need to know about FitStar: Brandon Trollip.
1. How long have you been using FitStar and what Program do you use?
I started using FitStar early this year after randomly searching the App Store for a personal training program. Initially, I started using the Daily Dose but, as I run too, I couldn’t fit in two activities into a day. For the last three months, I’ve been using Get Strong about four times a week.
2. What’s your FitStar story?
We have three young children. Pre-children, I used to cycle, play golf, go to the gym or run when possible. As my job includes a lot of travel, it’s just not possible, or fair, to spend time away from my family when I’m home. So I looked for a fitness app that I could do at home, in addition to running only two or three times a week. Also, as I do travel so much, I also wanted a fitness program that I could take with me, and do in my hotel room – or in fact do anywhere where it is practical to do so.
I have a very close circle of good friends too, and earlier in the year, we decided to take part in our first Tough Mudder. Every Saturday morning, we left our respective homes well before our families surfaced – and ran a 10 km circuit, broken up with intervals of exercises that I’d learned from doing my FitStar training. Since we took park in our first Mudder, we’ve signed up for three more and taken part in two. The FitStar Mudder Mayhem Session is great – although brutal – and a few of my friends and their wives have now downloaded the FitStar app and regularly can be found jumping around their gardens as Tony Gonzalez puts then through their paces.
I’m now in my 40th year, and have seriously never been in such great shape. I know that may sound conceited but, even when I was playing a lot of sports as a child, I’ve never been so fast or had comparable stamina. I’ll be taking part in my first London Marathon next year and I have FitStar to thank for elements of my fitness.
3. Why is FitStar a good fit for you?
FitStar is great. The app is simple to follow and as I travel so frequently, I can take it with me wherever I go. The social aspect is great too. It’s fun to keep up with what your friends are doing and when you see a completed session, it spurs you into action – to do another. Not that I’m competitive…much!
4. What have you gained by using FitStar?
At the age of 39, I have the beginnings of six pack, which is novel! I wasn’t overweight before downloading FitStar but, I wanted to improve my fitness and “get stronger.” I’ve achieved both and have never felt so fit…good for chasing after three young children.
5. What tips or advice do you have for others that may help get them started or keep going?
Start slowly and set realistic targets which you can achieve (feel good about yourself) and build on. Fitness is gradual and so is weight loss but, if you stick to it…just after a couple of months you’ll notice the benefits and they’ll keep on coming too.
Time to go and jump around the garden – and get my circle back to blue!
