Our FitStar of the week is Andy Leman from Anchorage, Alaska, and he was the grand-prize winner of the FitStar Football Kick-off Contest! Andy discovered FitStar a little over a month ago and he’s already dropped 4% body fat and has increased his upper arm strength.
Here are five facts you need to know about FitStar: Andy Leman.
1. How long have you been using FitStar and what Program do you use?
I’ve been using FitStar for about five weeks now. I’m on the Get Strong Program. I can’t wait to see what my results look like in another month!
2. What’s your FitStar story?
I lost about 50 pounds over the past two years through cardio and diet. But this summer, I found myself slowly adding pounds. With winter approaching, I needed something to do that would help me maintain my current weight. But I also wanted to add some muscle and lose some fat, even if my weight stayed the same. I found FitStar and have gone from not being able to do a single strict push-up to being able to do 10 without too much trouble.
3. Why is FitStar a good fit for you?
I love being able to catchup on the Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire or whatever else I have on my DVR while I exercise. I just put my iPad on the floor in front of the TV and off I go. I love that I don’t need any weights or workout equipment. I travel a fair bit for work, and lots of places don’t really have a gym or good place for a workout. But as long as I have my iPad, I can always get in a workout. I don’t have to commit to an hour of workout time, I’m making this progress with less than 30 minutes a day.
Another thing I love about working out in my basement is that some mornings my 4 year old comes down and joins me. She does the 4 year old version of push-ups, sit-ups and high knees with me. She doesn’t like jumping jacks. She can’t run on the treadmill with me, but she really enjoys doing “floor exercises” with her dad.
4. What have you gained by using FitStar?
I’ve been tracking my weight and body fat % almost every day for the past five weeks. My weight is roughly the same, but with FitStar and a low carbohydrate diet, my body fat % has dropped from an average of 26% to an average of 22%. And as a guy who has always had pretty strong legs, but pretty weak arms/upper body, I have really noticed the difference in what I could do a month ago vs. now, so that confirms for me the changes that are going on.
5. What tips or advice do you have for others that may help get them started or keep going?
Get a body fat measuring scale and measure everyday. For me, I don’t think I could make the progress I’m making without some kind of diet. The key for me was finding one I like and can live with.
